The studio rehearsal process is finished. Over the past two years we have built …within us. through bruises, rehearsal changes, and travels. It came together slowly and then blossomed all at once.
Pieces always take on a life of their own. One separate, but intrinsically connected to your own vision. Once you feel it happen, feel the work stand up on its own legs and point you in the right direction, you know that the work is close to finished. This happened for us a couple months ago and since then we have been we have been riding its wave. Allowing the dance to make many of the following decisions.
I am very proud of this work, what is has become. Yet, there is still so much to learn and discovered. The set, sound, and lights will transform work further. These production elements fill out the dance and enhance the intention of each section. They are all three days away from becoming real!
Today we start moving things around, transporting the set, picking up rigging, lighting equipment etc. Tomorrow we officially load in, meaning we start making the black box theater ours, installing our scenic design, hanging our lights and speakers. By Thursday it will be time to have the dancers in the space. We will work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday getting used to the new environment and cleaning the movement.
I’ll keep you all in the loop through the twitter feed on the right hand column and will be sure to post pictures as things come into focus.
I hope to see you in the theater next week!
Here are the details one last time:
